Dr Shantanu Mallick is the first Pain Physician in Navi Mumbai as well as in the whole Konkan belt of Maharashtra who was awarded FIPP degree (Fellowship in Interventional Pain Practice) from World Institute of Pain in 2011. It is one of the highest milestones in the field of pain management. He also successfully completed the fellowship training from Indian Academy of Pain and acquired “Fellow of Indian Academy of Pain Medicine” (FIAPM) degree.

Recently he upgraded himself in the field of Endoscopic Spine Treatments under the rigorous training of Dr Satish Chandra Gore, an eminent Endoscopic Spine Surgeon in India.

Nowadays the need for open spine surgery (Laminectomy) has been reduced tremendously for the long term benefit of the Lumbar or Cervical disc prolapse / herniation causing radiating pain to leg or hand.
After finishing his schooling from Narendrapur Ramakrishna Mission, one of the best residential schools of West Bengal as well as India (awarded in 2017), he completed his MBBS in 1995 from R. G. Kar Medical College, Kolkata which is one of the oldest medical colleges in India and also recently awarded as the best medical college in West Bengal.

After taking a primary training in Anesthesia he was working with his father, Late, Dr. Prabhat Kumar Mallick, a well-known Gynecologist in Burdwan (WB). From the beginning of his career he was always inclined to Pain management & Regional Anesthesia.

He completed his Diploma in Anesthesia in 1999 from MGM Medical College, Navi Mumbai and started freelancing Anesthesia and Pain management practice in different hospitals of Navi Mumbai. He recently completed his MD in Anatomy for deeper study in and teaching in Pain therapy.

His caring and dedicated nature for all types of acute pain, like, trauma pain, post-operative pain, painless delivery, Pain management in ICU, etc, helped him to develop interest in chronic pain management, where millions of people are suffering with different types of chronic pain like, back pain, Neck pain, Tail bone pain, neuropathic pain, Trigeminal neuralgia, cancer pain, post-herpetic neuralgia, headache etc.

Today he is the only dependable doctor in this field in Navi Mumbai.

Interventional Pain Management is a discipline of medicine devoted to the diagnosis and treatment of pain-related disorders through minimally invasive techniques in day-care basis to help the patients return to their everyday activities quickly and without heavy reliance on medications. Interventional pain management has recently emerged as a rapidly developing specialty in our country, though it has shown its presence in the western world for over 30yrs.

He has taken training on Interventional Pain Management in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Delhi and Lucknow & Ahmadabad under the guidance of eminent Pain Specialists of India, Australia, Thailand, UK & USA and He also had done Post-graduate Diploma on Pain Management in 2006 form Hyderabad under the eminent Pain Physician, Dr Murlidhar Joshi.

He has given several paper presentations and guest lecturers in different national as well as International conferences all over India and also published several papers in National and International Journals.

Besides his regular busy schedules, he is very much interested in social awareness in Pain management. He has been running his Painless Delivery clinic in MGM Hospitals, Fortis Hospital and Anurag Hospital, Nerul since year 2000 where mothers are getting trained regarding Labor pain relief (Painless Labor). He is running lot of training programs for doctors and paramedical in different hospitals to increase patient care.

He has taken the maximum efforts with Dr Surekha Patil, Dean of Dr D. Y Patil Medical College to start City Branch of Indian Society of Anesthesiologists, to continue updated medical education for better quality anesthesia & Pain Management in Navi Mumbai.

He is a life member of Indian Society of Anesthesiologist, Association of Obstetric Anesthesiologist of India (ISA), and Indian Society for Study of Pain (ISSP) & World Institute of Pain (WIP), USA and International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP).

He believes “Real pain relief is A Basic Human Right”, that's why his mission is to dedicate himself in the enjoyment of relieving Pain in our society with his level best effort.
